Payroll Technical Lead
In this role, you’ll own the depth of payroll know-how across Visory, using AI and human expertise to give SMEs clear and compliant payroll so they can focus on growing their business.
About Visory
Visory is on a mission to make high-quality financial services and insights accessible to every small and medium business – transforming the financial back office and empowering them to see what’s possible.
We’re redefining what “back office” means for SMEs. Instead of selling software that teams have to learn and manage, we combine AI and world-class bookkeeping and payroll experts to actually do the work – from daily reconciliations and payroll runs, to BAS, month-end close and management reporting. Our customers don’t buy just a platform; they buy accurate books, payroll sorted, and clear financial insights they can act on.
We work with growing businesses across Australia and New Zealand, acting as an extension of their team so they can focus on building their business, not chasing receipts or worrying about compliance. Behind the scenes, we’re building a scalable AI services platform that turns complex financial workflows into reliable, repeatable outcomes.
We’re an ambitious team who love being in the arena and building a solution that disrupting a $500b+ global industry.
How You Will Make An Impact
Accurate and timely Payroll is critical for the businesses we work with – their teams rely on Visory to get paid. The Payroll Technical Lead is our central payroll subject matter expert – the person our Teams turn to when things get complex, ambiguous, or high risk. Which we know with payroll can be frequently.
In this role, you’ll own the depth and coherence of payroll know-how across Visory. You’ll be the final escalation point for complex payroll questions, set and maintain our standards and documentation, and help us design AI products that will keep our payroll accurate and compliant.
You’ll spend your time solving real, sometimes, messy problems – awards, terminations, redundancies, leave, payroll tax – and turning those solutions into repeatable products, guides, and workflows that our Teams and Payroll Officers can rely on every day.
You won’t manage a team of Payroll Officers, instead, they sit within cross-functional teams, and you’ll work with team leaders, Business Performance Partners, to deliver expectational outcomes for customers. In addition, you’ll work with Sales, Onboarding and Product to ensure we can scale payroll with confidence.
